RV Road Trip Entertainment: Reading for Kids and Adults

Since we are on the subject of entertainment while on the road, I should mention that my husband and I both like to read. The iPad, or Kindle, is the perfect thing to take with us on our RV road trip because it can hold thousands of books in one tiny space-saving tablet.

That being said, I still plan on taking a few other actual books with us. While I love the iPad, I am not a huge fan of reading on it. It’s best for me if I can at least switch back and forth from iPad to real book. I hope to be able to find a few used bookstores along the way where we can buy a great book at one store and sell it at the next. Or better yet, trade our book in for a different one, thus never spending a dime.

If spending is a concern for you, like it is for us, one thing to know is that you can get all sorts of free classic books through the Kindle or Kindle app on the iPad. This means we can read great stories like: Les Miserables, The Scarlet Letter, Wuthering Heights, A Tale of Two Cities, Moby Dick, Anna Karenina, Jane Eyre and Crime and Punishment without spending a dime on downloading new books. They have free children’s books too like: The Jungle Book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Grimm’s Fairy Stories, The Wind in the Willow, The Secret Garden and Treasure Island. They are not illustrated, but if you read them aloud to your children they are sure to love them.

You can find more free books to download by going to Amazon.com and looking at the Literary Fiction section under the Kindle e Books department. You can also purchase many other ebooks including travel guides to help you on your journey.
