I may be jumping ahead in our trip planning, but I already
know how I plan to solve one of the issues we all must face while on vacation:
how to do we entertain ourselves? I plan on seeing the sights, going on hikes
and taking many photographs, but what about at night?
I got excited after Christmas this year, which is why I’m
jumping ahead to one of the least important topics for planning an RV road
trip. On Christmas day I opened a small package to find a Cribbage board
inside. I grew up playing this game and my husband and I play all the time.
This was the perfect gift since our current travel Cribbage board has lost most
of its pegs. The Cribbage board got me thinking about what games we should take
with us while on the road.
Like all other items I will be packing, I need to consider
the limited space we will have. I also of course need to consider what games we
prefer to play at home on rainy days. I found my answer in our game
closet. Yes, we have an entire
closet filled with games and puzzles, which is why this decision may be
slightly more difficult for us than for others.
The games that I have chosen for us are a few of our go-to
games: Cribbage, Sequence and Blokus. Blokus unfortunately has a large game
board and requires several pieces to play. Sequence also has a board as well as
several small tokens. The great thing about Sequence is that it is played with
two decks of cards. Not only can the cards be used for various card games, like
Cribbage, the tokens can be used as chips in a friendly game of poker. Being
able to use the things we pack for various uses extends to even our games.
For space saving here is what I plan to take all the
packaging out of the Blokus box. Then I will take all the pieces and game
boards for the other games and place them under the Blokus game board in the
box. This should keep all the games in one easy to get to and space-saving
place.
These 3 games should fit easily in the RV and will provide
us with hours of fun. Of course if we go to pack and they don’t fit, I will
only be taking the Cribbage board and two decks of cards.
